Kurdistan Region and Erdogan

We at keep our focus on what the rest of the world is doing to Kurds, but the impact of this is continually showing itself in the behaviour of the Kurdistan Regional Government – KRG – towards its own population and we will now also be posting about this concern: 3 July 2016

The Turkish State has applied a lot of financial and geo-political pressure on the Kurds in Southern Kurdistan (otherwise known as Kurdistan – Iraq) and on its leader of the KRG Political Party which has overall control – Masoud Barzani: http://cabinet.gov.krd/p/p.aspx?l=12&p=232It is said that some of this has been personal financial pressure to line Barzani’s pockets. Violent clashes in Nusaybin

In Mardin’s Nusaybin district where popular resistance for self-rule against the attacks of state forces endures with determination, violent clashes are taking place in Dicle and Yenişehir neighborhoods.

Severe clashes are taking place in both neighborhoods as YPS / YPS-JIN retaliate against the intensified attacks.

First meeting, first thoughts: Political action and campaigning …

Political action:

  • Link with Nottingham Kurdish Solidarity Campaign
  • The focus will be on what other Governments are doing to Kurds, particularly at this time:
    • Kurds in Syria are living in a society created during these troubled times, which has brought relative peace and democracy in the midst of chaos. They have put together a model of organisation that could be rolled out across the Middle East. This model accommodates all who share their common values.
